- To merge or edit .pdf files just download **pdftk** (in Ubuntu). Follow the `instruction <http://www.ubuntugeek.com/list-of-pdf-editing-tools-for-ubuntu.html>`_ here.
- To include PDF documents in LaTeX, use the package `pdfpages <http://www.ctan.org/pkg/pdfpages>`_. Example of usage:: 

		\includepdf{pages=-,nup=1x3,pagecommand={\thispagestyle{plain}},frame=true,scale=0.9}{file.pdf}

- To increase the height between rows in an array::

		\renewcommand*{\arraystretch}{1.5}

- One way to center chapter/section/subsection title is to use **secsty** package::

- To customize your citation styles, check out **harvard** or **natbib** packages::

	\usepackage{harvard} % follow harvard family which uses AUTHOR and YEAR
	\harvardparenthesis{square} % other options are 'round'
	\citationstyle{dcu} % other options are 'agsm','apsr','dcu'. It changes the format of listed papers.

Common problems
-------------------

1. iPad don't display some images in pdf files properly. I drew pdf figures (via inkscape), and inserted them to a LaTeX document and exported it to a pdf document, (says doc.pdf). Everything looks fine on PC. Here's what I found: 

		- iPad can't display some figures in doc.pdf (but the texts and many other figures look okay)
		- iPad CAN display the original pdf figures I drew from inkscape.
		- the pdf can't be displayed in various readers in ipad (tried with Goodnotes, Notability, pdfnotes) EXCEPT Adobe reader !
		
	I googled and found `this thread <http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93443>`_. Read the comment by the user 'RCR'. It's something to do with JPEG2000 image compression. What they did was open the pdf file with Adobe PDF reader or Preview reader in MAC. Print or save as to a new file and it will be iPad-friendly format.
